In the land of anime, Kamen Rider and Super Sentai, where super heroes were born, this current event in Japan is the opportunity for real-life super heroes to go to work and shine. They are the police, firefighters, and other emergency response teams.

God bless Japan.

Rant

Dear Ms Terry,

The month of July marks our firm’s annual change of order. With much heraldry and anticipation new heads are introduced, positions are shuffled, and deserving employees move up the firm’s success ladder. Nonetheless there always few that are left just the way they are, unmoving, unchanged.

I have been serving the firm for almost three years now and have been applying my self the best I could to its strenuous and stringent requirements. Assuming that in a couple of years serving as an assistant I will eventually become a semi-senior. But last year was different, due to certain constraints only a handful of audit experienced juniors were promoted. I was not promoted, tough luck, but I decided to plod full on. I felt minute and very much humbled then but I chose to stay hoping, and as in turned-out - vain hopes, that next year will be better.

I don’t question the firm’s judgement, if does not care for my sanity lest my feelings, but as an auditor accounting people’s transparency I want a clear view of why I was not promoted this time around. I am clueless, why I should be humbled twice and forced to my knees? I am at a lost, why I should be the infamous faceless cautionary tale that would always be invoked as this guy-who-was-twice-passed-over?

I am sorry if this seems too emotionally charged but in the light my current predicament and being pushed against the same wall twice is just about the formula to fill anyone to the brim.

Respectfully, JoMic

Winds of Fate by Ella Wheeler-Wilcox recited by Maggie Smith

I really need a push, thank you. This too shall pass, I shall not be toyed by the winds of fate but be buoyed by my own mind set.
